Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 4, 2026

This policy explains what information QuineX collects, how it is used and the choices you have. QuineX is a personal finance app operated by Santiago Alvarez, an individual based in Colombia (“we”, “us”). Questions: santiagoxalvarezperalta@gmail.com.

QuineX is currently in beta. Bank connections run in a test environment and do not connect to real bank accounts yet.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. If you create an account: your email address and password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and we never see them in plain text.
  • Financial information you enter. Movements you add (amount, type, category, description and date) and your settings (currency, theme and language).
  • Bank statements you import (CSV or PDF). The file is read in your browser and is never uploaded. Only the movements you choose to import are saved.
  • Bank data through Plaid. If you connect a bank: account names, types, balances, the last digits of the account number, and transactions. The access credential for your bank connection is stored on our servers and is never sent to your browser. We never receive your bank username or password. Plaid’s handling of your data is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
  • Waitlist. Your email address, the language of the page and how you found us (for example, a referral link).
  • Technical information. Our hosting and content providers may log IP addresses and basic request information to deliver the site and keep it secure.
  • Usage statistics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits to each page (for example, the page, country, device type and the site that sent you). It does not use cookies and does not identify you personally.
  • Anonymous product statistics. To learn which parts of QuineX are useful, the app sends a few anonymous events (for example, “saw the runway”, “imported a statement”, “used the simulator”), at most once a day each. Each event carries only its name, a short detail (CSV or PDF), the app language, the date and a random ID created on your device, which is not linked to your account. It never includes amounts, descriptions, your email or bank data.
  • Feedback you send in the app. Your rating, your comment, the language of the app and, if you are signed in, your account ID.

2. Information stored on your device

QuineX saves your movements, settings and language in your browser’s local storage so the app works without an account. If you sign in, a session token is also stored there. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

3. How we use information

  • To provide QuineX: calculate your runway, safe daily limit and tips.
  • To sync your data across devices when you have an account.
  • To tell waitlist members when QuineX launches and about important updates.
  • To keep the service secure and to fix problems.
  • To understand feedback and improve the product.

We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for targeted advertising, and we do not show ads.

Legal bases (for example, under the GDPR in the European Union and the UK, or the LGPD in Brazil): we process your data to provide the service you asked for (your account, your movements, the weekly email you can turn off); for our legitimate interests in keeping QuineX secure, counting visits without cookies and improving the product; with your consent when you join the waitlist or connect a bank, which you can withdraw at any time; and to comply with the law.

4. Service providers

We use a small number of providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Supabase: database and sign-in (servers in the United States).
  • Vercel: website and server hosting, and visit statistics.
  • Plaid: bank connections, in the countries where it is available.
  • Resend: sending the weekly runway email.
  • Sentry: error reports, so we can find and fix problems (technical details such as the browser, the device and the error message, without your financial data).
  • Google Fonts, jsDelivr and Plaid: fonts and code libraries loaded by your browser, which may receive your IP address.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Data retention

We keep account data while your account is active. Waitlist emails are kept until shortly after launch or until you ask us to delete them. Data stored only on your device stays there until you delete it (for example, with “Reset” in the app).

6. Your choices and rights

You can delete your account and all its data yourself from the app (Settings → Danger zone → “Delete my account and data”). This also disconnects any bank you linked and removes your email from the waitlist. If you have an account, we send you a weekly email with your runway (only the days, the date and your average daily spending, never your balance). You can turn it off in Settings or with the “Unsubscribe” link in each email. You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, or to remove you from the waitlist, by emailing santiagoxalvarezperalta@gmail.com. You can disconnect QuineX from your bank at any time, and download your movements (Settings → Your data) to take them elsewhere.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent. We answer within 30 days and we will not treat you differently for using these rights. Depending on where you live (for example, the European Union, the UK, Brazil, Colombia, California or other places with privacy laws), you may also file a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, database access rules that limit each user to their own data, and server-only storage of bank connection credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Age

QuineX is intended for people 18 and older and is not directed to children.

9. International users and data transfers

QuineX is available worldwide. It is operated from Colombia and its data is stored in the United States by the providers listed above. When your data leaves your country, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Some features, like bank connections, are only available in some countries.

10. Changes

If we update this policy, we will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email.
